Google is giving users of YouTube Music the ability to make custom stations based on particular artists and adjust how the algorithm selects songs to play. The "Radio Builder" feature, which launched on Tuesday, can be accessed in the iOS or Android app by scrolling to the "Your music tuner" section of the YouTube Music homepage.
You can select up to 30 artists when building your own station. You can choose to only hear music from those artists or to hear songs from similar musicians. You can also add filters to fine-tune the mix and instruct it to play songs you've heard before, songs you've never heard before, or a combination of the two.
You could, for instance, create a station that plays upbeat new music from Eden, Khalid, and Pup, as well as your favorite mellow deep cuts from Boygenius and the individual catalogs of its members.
It's encouraging to see that YouTube will continue to test this feature last year. Although YouTube Music already had a lot of stations and mixes that were driven by algorithms, having ones you can control seems like a great option for when you want to listen to something specific but don't want to make a playlist by hand.

According to Paul Pennington, a spokesperson for Google, the feature, which will be available everywhere you can get YouTube Music, can be used by anyone, whether you are a free user or a paying subscriber.
